Tech women's golf return to Kiawah Island Classic for sixth-straight year

The three-day, 54-hole event will run through Tuesday, Mar. 2 and feature 41 teams competing in the country's largest tournament.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team returns to play with its annual trip to Kiawah Island, S.C. and the Kiawah Island Classic beginning Sunday, Feb. 28. The three-day, 54-hole event will run through Tuesday, Mar. 2 and feature 41 teams competing in the country's largest tournament.
KIAWAH ISLAND CLASSIC: Feb. 28-Mar. 2, 2021 – 54 holes (18 Sunday, 18 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-72, 5,991-yard Cougar Point Course and par-72, 5,958-yard Oak Point Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C. After 36 holes of play, the Top-19 teams will play for the championship at Cougar Point during the final round, while teams 20-41 will play for a flight championship at Oak Point. Teams will tee off in waves each day, with the morning group heading off at 6:30 a.m. CT on Sunday and Monday. The Top-19 teams will tee off at Cougar Point on Tuesday starting at 6:30 a.m. while the teams ranked 20-41 will tee off at Oak Point starting at 6:20 a.m.
GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are junior Heidi Lawson, sophomore Elisabeth Toennessen, senior Hannah Bratton, redshirt-senior Arianna Clemmer, and sophomore Gittle Sciolis.
THE COMPETITION: The 41-team field consists of host College of Charleston, as well as Alabama State, Austin Peay, Boston College, Butler, The Citadel, Dallas Baptist, Dayton, Delaware, Delaware State, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Elon, ETSU, Indiana State, IUPUI, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Lipscomb, Longwood, Missouri State, Morehead State, Murray State, North Alabama, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Oral Roberts, Presbyterian, Radford, Samford, Stetson, Tennessee Tech, Towson, UNC Asheville, UNCG, USC Upstate, UT Arlington, Western Carolina, William & Mary, Wofford and Youngstown State

The ladies have been hard at work since Panama City and we look forward to the opportunity that awaits us in the biggest field of college golf. We're ready to get after it."
WHAT TO WATCH FOR: This marks the sixth-straight year the Golden Eagles will compete in the Kiawah Island Classic, the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country. The event marked the only tournament of the spring for the Tech squad in 2019-20, with the remainder of the season cancelled shortly after due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
