CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Tennessee Tech track & field finished up its first day split off at both the Virginia Challenge and Georgia Tech Invitational with a handful of solid performances.
Roberts broke the long-standing Tech outdoor record in the high jump with her winning mark of 1.77m/5'9¾". Katherine Lynn's mark of 1.73m/5'8", which led the conference that season, had stood since May 2011.
Through three events of scoring, Robinson sits in 10th place with 1930 points and Roberts at 3rd with 2351 points with three heptathlon events to go on Saturday.
Distance specialists Micayla Rennick and Purity Sanga also earned top-10 finishes in their first 10k appearances this outdoor season, with Rennick finishing third and Sanga seventh. Both broke Stephanie Place's 10k school record of 36:29.64 set back at the 2007 OVC Championships, with Rennick timing 34:25.22 and Sanga 35:11.23.
In Atlanta, Teauna Anderson placed 44th with a time of 12.540 in the 100m dash.
Tech wraps up both meets on Saturday.
