Golden Eagles pull rank in both FCS polls after EKU victory

With Saturday’s victory over a ranked opponent at Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech moved back into the top 25 in one Football Championship Subdivision poll and stood pat in another.

Tech 21st in Coaches poll; 23rd in Sports Network

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — With Saturday's victory over a ranked opponent at Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech moved back into the top 25 in one Football Championship Subdivision poll and stood pat in another.

The Golden Eagles (6-3, 5-2 OVC) are ranked No. 21 in the FCS Coaches Poll, moving down one notch from last week's No. 20 ranking despite the victory. Tech moved up in The Sports Network/Fathead.com poll, however, settling in at No. 23 after being unranked a week ago.

Tennessee Tech is the only Ohio Valley Conference school ranked in either poll this week as Eastern Kentucky fell out after its 28-21 loss at the hands of the Golden Eagles. Jacksonville State (31^st) and Eastern Kentucky (40^th) both received votes in the Coaches Poll while JSU (29^th), EKU (36^th), Murray State (45^th) and Tennessee State (55^th) were mentioned in the Sports Network poll.

The Golden Eagles will play for an OVC championship on Saturday when Austin Peay visits Tucker Stadium for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
