Golden Eagles looking for more success on the road against SEMO, EIU
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After earning its first OVC road win of the season, the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (4-13, 2-4 OVC) will look to wrap up their road trip on a high note.
“We have been playing much more consistent,” head coach John Blair said. “We have improved on a lot of things we have needed to improve on and it has shown up on the scoreboard.
“There is still room for improvement,” Blair continued.
Tech begins the weekend as it takes on the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State Friday, at 7 p.m. SEMO is 32-8 against the Golden Eagles all-time.
Last season, the Golden Eagles split the season series with the Redhawks with both matches being decided in the fifth set. Presently, SEMO owns a 4-10 record and is seventh in the OVC standings with a 1-4 conference record.
TTU wraps up its four-match road trip Saturday, at 2p.m., as it squares off with the Eastern Illinois Panthers.
EIU enters Saturday’s match leading the all-time series against the Golden Eagles with a 16-13 record, but has lost six of the last eight matches against Tech. In 2009, both teams split the season series. EIU currently ranks ninth in the OVC with an 8-9 overall record and a 1-4 conference record.
“These matches are critical and we need to be prepared,” Blair said. “These are good teams and you never know what you are going to get out of them.”
