Amber Shepherd shares OVC Golfer of the Week honor

Tennessee Tech's Amber Shepherd earned her first all-tournament honor on Tuesday, and Wednesday was named as the Ohio Valley Conference co-Golfer of the Week, another first for the Golden Eagle sophomore.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- On Tuesday, Tennessee Tech's Amber Shepherd earned her first all-tournament honor with a fifth-place finish in the Belmont Invitational. Wednesday, she was named the Ohio Valley Conference Women's co-Golfer of the Week, another first for the Golden Eagle sophomore from Caryville, Tenn.

Shepherd carded a career-best 72 in Monday's round at the Old Hickory Country Club and added an 80 Tuesday, finishing in a tie for fifth place to be named to the all-tournament squad. She shared the award with Tala Mumford of Austin Peay, who also tied for fifth at the Belmont Tournament.

Graham Sleigh of UT Martin was named as the OVC Men's Golfer of the Week.

Shepherd and the Golden Eagle women's team will be in Birmingham, Ala., Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Samford Invitational, then wrap up the regular seaon at the OVC Championships, April 22-24.
