BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference officially released its preseason players to watch and predicted order of finish for the 2025 women's golf spring season Friday morning, with Tennessee Tech well represented on both accounts.
After delivering back-to-back third-place showings at the OVC Women's Golf Championships the past two seasons, the Golden Eagles were selected to finish third this season by a vote of league coaches. Little Rock and Morehead State represented the only two teams picked higher than the purple and gold.
The Golden Eagles will take their lead from sophomore Chloe Griffith, the league's Player to Watch for the team this season. The Huntington Beach, Calif. native cemented herself as a presence in the league as a rookie last season, arriving in Cookeville and immediately establishing a new program scoring record for the year with a mark of 75.81.
She claimed two OVC Women's Golfer of the Week nods during her rookie campaign, highlighted by her first career medalist honor at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. Griffith picked up spots on both the All-OVC Team and OVC All-Newcomer Team and earned a top-15 showing at the OVC Championships.
This past fall, the youngster continued to improve her game while leading the purple and gold with a 74.75 scoring average and picking up another OVC Golfer of the Week honor. She collected on top-10 finish while competing in all five events.
With one event already in their belt for the spring campaign – the Golden Eagles competed at the individual-only Lady Bulldog Invitational on Jan. 25 as a tune-up for the season – Tech will take a brief break before resuming the spring slate.
Tech will return to traditional competition Mar. 3-4 at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate. The two-day event, hosted by Samford, will take place on the Highlands Course at Hampton Cove, part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
