MURRAY, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team concluded its regular season slate by closing out the final round of the Jan Weaver Invitational Saturday afternoon at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Ky.
The Golden Eagles finished the event eighth out of 15 competing teams, posting a 924 for the weekend. Wrapping up round three on the day, Tech turned in a 318 to add to its scores of 298 and 308 from Friday. Eastern Kentucky took the event title, edging Rutgers by three shots with an 884.
Leading the purple and gold on the leaderboard at the conclusion of the event was junior Shelby Johnson. The veteran tied for 8th among 98 competitors, carding a 77 for an overall final score of 224. She tallied rounds of 71 and 76 on Friday.
Next among the Tech lineup was junior Arianna Clemmer, tying for 41st after totaling a 234 for the weekend. She finished Saturday with a 79 after scoring 77 and 78 in the first two rounds. Just one shot back of her teammate was rookie Heidi Lawson, tying for 45th. The true freshman tallied a 235 behind rounds of 68, 88 and 79.
Sophomore Isabel York ranked next on the leaderboard for Tech, turning in a 241 (83-75-84). The youngster tied for 66th overall. Rounding out Tech's lineup was fellow sophomore Hannah Bratton. She finished play with a 246 after scores of 83, 79 and 83.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Kate Mashburn tied for 39th overall, carding a 77 in the third round. Added to her Friday rounds of 77 and 79, she wrapped up action with a 233.
Tech will now shift its focus on the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, which will kick off on Monday, Apr. 15 in Muscle Shoals, Ala. The three-day, 54-hole event will once again take place at The Shoals, with play commencing at the Schoolmaster Course, all part of the Robert Trent Jones Trail.
