Golden Eagles end fall with runner-up finish at Town and Country Invitational
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An historic performance gave the Tennessee Tech women’s golf team a chance late at the Town and Country Invitational Tuesday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles finished play at McCabe Golf Course second overall in the field of seven.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An historic performance gave the Tennessee Tech women's golf team a chance late at the Town and Country Invitational Tuesday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles finished play at McCabe Golf Course second overall in the field of seven.
The team's best finish of the season, the purple and gold concluded the 36-hole tournament hosted by Tennessee State just two strokes behind eventual winner and Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay. Tech fired off a program-record 288 in the second and final round of action and set a school scoring mark for 36 holes, carding a 580 overall (292-288).
It marked the first time a Golden Eagle squad posted two, sub-300 scores in the same event since 2015-16 and just the fourth time ever.
Two Tech golfers took home their first career All-Tournament honors, led by junior Shelby Johnson. The veteran shot a 142 (70-72), with a field-best 70 on Tuesday, to finish as the event's individual runner-up. Austin Peay's Reagan Greene claimed medalist honors with a 141 (69-72). Johnson's second-place finish marked the best of her career and highest by a Golden Eagles since Hollee Sadler won the Starmount Forest Fall Classic in the fall of 2016.
Fresh off her first career top-10 finish two weeks ago, Kate Mashburn also earned All-Tournament accolades by tying for fourth place in the field of 48. The sophomore served up a career-best 70 on the day, inking a 144 (74-70) for her best 36-hole finish to date.
Just missing out on her second top-five finish of the year was senior Lindsay Miller, who settled for a tie for sixth individually. The clubhouse leader of the Golden Eagles so far this season, Miller trimmed three strokes from her first 18 holes to round out the tournament with a 145 (74-71).
Next among the Tech lineup was sophomore Hannah Bratton. She tallied her second 75 of the week to tie for 17th with a 150 (75-75). Junior Arianna Clemmer completed the starting five for the purple and gold, tying for 19th after carding a 151 (74-77).
Competing as individuals were sophomore Isabel York and freshman Heidi Lawson. York posted a 155 (74-81) while Lawson totaled 156 (80-76).
The second-place finish as a team represents a high note as the team heads into the winter break portion of the 2018-19 campaign. The Golden Eagles will resume action by kicking off the spring season on Feb. 24 at the Edwin Watts – Kiawah Island Classic.
