Golden Eagle women's golf team closes GolfWeek Program Challenge in ninth
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women’s golf team placed ninth at the GolfWeek Program Challenge Tuesday afternoon, completing the final 18 holes of action with a team score of 305 to finish at 920 overall.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team placed ninth at the GolfWeek Program Challenge Tuesday afternoon, completing the final 18 holes of action with a team score of 305 to finish at 920 overall.
Just as she did all tournament, senior Whitney Robertson led the Golden Eagles at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, finishing the event in a tie for 20th overall among the 80 participants. The veteran tallied a third-round 74 to complete Tech's first tournament with a score of 224.
Fellow senior Lydia Triplett rounded out one of the best performances of her career with a 4-over 75 and finishing in a tie for 24th. The round gave her a 225 for the weekend, tying her previous best mark for 54 holes set back in her freshman campaign.
Ranking third among the Tech starting five was true freshman Shelby Johnson, who capped her first career round with an 82. She carded a 236 for the three-day event, tying for 48th overall.
Junior Allyson Dunn and sophomore Hollee Sadler rounded out the Golden Eagle scoring for the day, posting matching 78s in Myrtle Beach. The two completed their first events of the year with scores of 241 and 242, respectively.
"Whitney and Lydia were very steady through the event," head coach Polk Brown said, "which is something we are going to need from our seniors going forward. We played better the final two days, but our short games have to improve if we are going to contend. There's a week before our next event, so we will have some time to work on some things and get right back after it in two weeks."
The Golden Eagles will return to the links Sunday, Sept. 25 as they kick off the three-day Chris Bannister Fall Classic in Gadsden, Ala.
