Seven personal marks fall for Tech on first day of Vanderbilt meet
NASHVILLE -- All six distance runners set personal best marks in the 5,000-meter run Friday and two other career efforts were established by the Tennessee Tech track & field team on the first day of the Vanderbilt Invitational.

Junior Rebecca Cline led the hald dozen Golden Eagle runners in the longest event of the evening, finishing in 23rd place with a personal-best time of 17:44.89 in the 5,000-meter run. Peri Winborne was next in 18:45.61, followed in succession by Yeshi Dohrmann in 19:11.86, Meghan O'Donoghue in 19:30.32, Amelia McCoy in 19:37.42, and Kathry Forbes in 19:59.97 as all six Golden Eagles snapped the 20-minute barrier.
The other personal best marks came from freshman Landry Loving in the 1,500-meter run and senior Madison Borden in the shot put. Loving raced to a time of 5:03.52, while Borden's toss of 39 feet, eight inches edged her previous best by one inch.
In other action Friday, Kelli Keck led three Tech runners in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 27.03 seconds. Brooklyn Kimball (in photo above) ran the event in 27.27 seconds and Chelsea Mills (in photo above) was a split second behind at 27.31.
In the 1,500, Kendale Caldwell ran a time of 5:23.53.
As soon as Mills and Keck finished their heats in the 200-meter dash, they hustled over to the long jump to compete. Mills' best leap (in photo at left) was 16 feet, 3.5 inches, while Keck jumped 12 feet, 7.5 inches.
In addition to Borden in the shot put, Margerett Holder had a toss of 31 feet, 11 inches.
The first event of the day was the javelin, where Lacy Yslas placed sixth with a toss of 94 feet, one inch, and Haley Wennerstrom was seventh with a throw of 78 feet, three inches.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. for the second day of the meet.
