No qualifiers for NCAA, but four personal-best marks fall in Blacksburg
None of Tennessee Tech entries was able to qualify for the NCAA Regional, but four personal-best times were written by Golden Eagle runners Saturday at Virginia Tech's Last Chance indoor track & field meet.
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- None of Tennessee Tech's entries was able to
qualify for the NCAA Regional, but four personal-best times were
written by Golden Eagle runners Saturday at Virginia Tech's Last
Chance indoor track & field meet.
Sophomore Kendale Caldwell posted career-best times in both the
mile and 800-meter runs, while junior Rebecca Cline (in photo) had
a PR in the mile and freshman Landry Loving had her career time in
the 800-meter run.
In the mile, Cline covered the distance in 5:27.53, while Caldwell
crossed the finish line in 5:52.89. Amelia McCoy also ran in the
race, posting a time of 6:08.61.
In the 800-meter run, Loving was Tech's top finisher with a PR of
2:28.30, with Caldwell posting a time of 2:33.36 for her
career-best. Elizabeth Mitchell ran the race in 2:40.49, and Yeshi
Dohrmann posted a time of 2:43.87.
Tech had two runners in the 5,000-meter run. Peri Winborne clocked
a time of 20:49.74, while Kathryn Forbes ran it in 21:50.66.
Lacy Yslas and Margarett Holder competed in the shot put. Yslas had a toss of 35 feet, one-quarter inch and Holder's best was 31 feet, 3 inches. In the triple jump, Chelsea Mills leaped 35 feet, 11.25 inches while Kelli Keck made it to 34 feet, 6.75 inches.
The meet wrapped up the indoor season for coach Tony Cox's team. The outdoor season begins March 23 at the Western Carolina Invitational.
