Weatherly selected to second team, Flowers to third team roster

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The strength of Tennessee Tech's transfer portal recruiting shone brightly on Monday as the Golden Eagles had two players selected to the Stat Perform Preseason All-American teams.
Wide receiver Eric Weatherly was named to the second-team offense, while running back M.J. Flowers was selected for the third team.
Weatherly was with Ball State last season, catching 29 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing 13 times for 117 yards and having five kick returns for 78 yards. He recorded a season-long run of 22 yards against UConn and a catch of 35 yards against Miami (Ohio). He was a Preseason All-MAC selection by Phil Steele.com.
Before joining the Cardinals, he had a great career at Bucknell, catching 117 passes for 1,468 yards and 15 touchdowns with five games of 100-plus receiving yards and three with 10 or more receptions. At Bucknell, he also averaged 19.4 yards per kick return and 8.2 yards on punt returns. He had 75 catches for 865 yards and eight touchdowns in his sophomore campaign, leading the Patriot League in both categories.
Flowers spent last season at UConn after three seasons at former conference foe Eastern Illinois. In his time with the Panthers, Flowers rushed for 1,837 yards on 402 carries with 15 touchdowns and an average of 4.7 yards per carry. In his rookie campaign, Flowers was the OVC/Big South Freshman of the Year and the runner-up for the Jerry Rice FCS Freshman of the Year Award with three Freshman All-America selections.
It's only the beginning of preseason accolades as the Southern Conference will announce its preseason team next Tuesday as part of its annual Media Day event in Greenville, S.C.
The Golden Eagles open camp in August to culminate in the start of the 2026 season on August 29 against Monmouth.
