COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech soccer team made another addition to its 2021 fall unit, as head coach Steve Springthorpe announced the signing of Bella Garrett to help boost the club's roster.
Garrett, a 5-foot-8 defender out of Harrodsburg, Ky., will throw on the purple and gold as an incoming freshman in the fall of 2021.
"We are excited that Bella has decided to attend TTU and play for our team this upcoming fall," Tech head coach Steve Springthorpe said. "Bella is a great athlete who will fit in well with our defensive group. Her size, strength, speed and command of the central part of the field will bolster our defensive presence in the future."
A two-time all-district and all-region performer during her days at Mercer County Senior High School in Harrodsburg, Ky., Garrett put together an imposing stat sheet that saw her collect an eye-popping 75 career goals and 115 career assists throughout her prep tenure. Named Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore with 18 goals and 32 assists, Garrett was also recognized as the Midfield Player of the Year as a junior with 12 scores and 35 assists. The 5-foot-8 incoming freshman tallied 25 goals and 23 assists during her senior season.
A two-sport athlete, Garrett was on her high school's state-championship winning track and field team and took home a state title within the club soccer ranks as well during her stint with Lexington F.C.
"Not only is Bella a great athlete, but she is an exceptional student who has been a leader on the academic side as well," Springthorpe noted. "Bella will fit right in to our group of players that strive to be both excellent on the field and in the classroom. We look forward to having her suit up with us this fall."
