Wells collects first career OVC Female Freshman Athlete of the Week honor
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech track & field team saw one of its own take home weekly honors for the first time in her career, as Rylee Wells was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference Female Freshman Athlete of the Week as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech track & field team saw one of its own take home weekly honors for the first time in her career, as Rylee Wells was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference Female Freshman Athlete of the Week as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.
Wells delivered an impressive showing in the 5,000-meter run in her indoor track debut, competing at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville. Notching a new personal record in the event, the rookie clocked in at 18:01.77 to place 17th among more than 40 runners.
The Knoxville native entered the indoor track & field campaign after a dynamite showing during cross country season. Wells finished as the OVC's runner-up in the event with a PR of 21:37.1 in the 6K.
Backed by the highest finish ever by a Golden Eagle freshman at the OVC Championships, she earned a place on the All-OVC First Team.
Next on the docket, the Golden Eagles travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the UAB Vulcan Invite. Competition is set for Friday, Feb. 7 at the Birmingham Crossplex.
