Golden Eagles continue indoor season at Buccaneer Invite
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Golden Eagles will head east for their second outing of the season as they compete in the Buccaneer Invite hosted by East Tennessee State University on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Golden Eagles will head east for their second outing of the season as they compete in the Buccaneer Invite hosted by East Tennessee State University on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
The two-day meet begins Friday in the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center. On Friday, the track events begin at 10:30 a.m. with the women's 60m hurdles, while the field events begin at 11 a.m. with the men's weight throw. On Saturday, the women's 3,000m run will kick off the track events at 9 a.m., followed by the field events starting at 10 a.m. with the women's shot put.
Along with the Golden Eagles and host East Tennessee State, this weekend's field will include Anderson (S.C.), Appalachian State, Bryan, Carson-Newman, Emmanuel (Ga.), Gardner-Webb, King, Lees-McRae, Lincoln Memorial, Mars Hill, Milligan, Montevallo, Montreat, North Greenville, Piedmont, Pikeville, Queens (N.C.), Southern Wesleyan, Talladega College, Tennessee Wesleyan, UNC Pembroke, UNC-Asheville, USC Upstate, and Union (Ky.).
Tech is back in action after a pair of bye weekends from competition. The Golden Eagles opened the season Jan. 10 at the UAB Blazer Invitational.
Senior Lisa Wickham posted a new school record in the 60-meter dash. She ran a time of 7.32 seconds, shaving off eight tenths from her previous career-best and school record time of 7.40 seconds.
Freshman Lyn'Nikka Vance also had a stellar performance in her debut for the Purple and Gold, finishing runner-up in the long jump. She turned in a 5.79-meter (19') performance, coming just eleven hundredths off the school record.
Following this weekend's competition, the Golden Eagles will head to Birmingham, Ala. for the Samford Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 15.
