Golden Eagle football to face James Madison in 2025
HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison has a long-standing football tradition with years of success in the Football Championship Subdivision. Now members of the top-tier Football Bowl Subdivision, the Dukes will play host to Tennessee Tech for the first time in the 2025 campaign. The game was announced by James Madison on Monday. The Dukes are currently 7-0 this season, including a 4-0 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. JMU defeated Virginia 36-35 on Sept. 9 and Utah State 45-38 on Sept. 23 and is coming off of a 20-9 win at Marshall last week.

The Dukes are currently 7-0 this season, including a 4-0 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. JMU defeated Virginia 36-35 on Sept. 9 and Utah State 45-38 on Sept. 23 and is coming off of a 20-9 win at Marshall last week.
JMU is currently in its second season as a member of the FBS and the Sun Belt Conference, playing its final season in the Colonial Athletic Association in 2021 with a 7-1 mark in the FCS league and 12-2 overall. The Dukes finished 8-3 in their first FBS campaign and 6-2 in the Sun Belt.
The Golden Eagles have played 39 contests against the FBS since the Division I split into I-A and I-AA in 1978 with I-A later renamed the Football Bowl Subdivision and I-AA the Football Championship Subdivision. In those contests, the Golden Eagles have gone all over the country with games against Oregon, Iowa, Louisville, TCU and Wisconsin, as well as a tour of the Southeastern Conference with Auburn, Georgia, Arkansas and two visits to Tennessee.
It will be the first meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Dukes.
Tech will face another first-time opponent this weekend as the Golden Eagles travel to the Pittsburgh area to take on Robert Morris in a Big South-Ohio Valley Conference Football Association contest on Saturday at 11 a.m. Central time.
The Golden Eagles return home Nov. 4 to host UT Martin for the team's annual Homecoming game.
