COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers
is among five Ohio Valley Conference football players who received
official invitations to the 2013 National Football League Combine
which will be held in Indianapolis from Feb. 20-26.
In addition to Rogers, the OVC players invited include were
Eastern Kentucky wide receiver Tyrone Goard, Jacksonville State
wide receiver Alan Bonner, Tennessee State offensive lineman Rogers
Gaines, and UT Martin defensive lineman Montori Hughes.
Rogers tied the school record with 10 touchdown catches in 2012,
his only season on the Golden Eagle roster. He finished the year
with 63 catches for 893 yards, including a school single-game
record 18 catches at Southeast Missouri.
Players from around the nation will go through various drills and
workouts and try to impress scouts, coaches and general managers.
While the NFL Combine is merely one aspect of the scouting process,
it can often be a way for players to make a name for
themselves.
Workouts are separated by position, as special teams players,
tight ends and offensive linemen start on Saturday, Feb. 23. On
Sunday, Feb. 24, quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs
take the field. Then, defensive linemen and linebackers go on
Monday, Feb. 25, and the combine wraps up with defensive backs on
Tuesday, Feb. 26.
