Golden Eagles downed by strong outing on hill by Southeast Missouri
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – An outstanding pitching performance was more than enough to gather a victory Friday evening, but unfortunately for the Tennessee Tech baseball team, the strong outing on the hill came from Southeast Missouri hurler Joey Lucchesi, leading the Redhawks (30-15, 20-5) over the Golden Eagles (20-23, 11-11), 9-1.

The Tech squad actually jumped out to an early lead in the first of a three-game series in Cape Girardeau, Mo., swiping a single run in the top of the second after a groundout by Josh Pankratz. Lucchesi locked in after that, however, holding the Golden Eagles to four hits and just the one run over eight innings of work. He walked six, but also struck out 13 on the night.
The Redhawks tied things up in the bottom of the second, grabbing a solo shot from Andy Lennington before taking the lead for good with one run in the third. The home squad put seven more on the scoreboard for insurance over the next four frames as well.
On the night, the Golden Eagles were held off balance by the strong pitching effort of the Redhawk ace, but All-American Dylan Bosheers made the most of his opportunities, clubbing two doubles on the night in three at bats. With his first two-bagger of the inning, a line shot to left center field in the first, the shortstop moved into first place on Tech's all-time list for career doubles, finishing the game with 56 for his four-year career.
The Golden Eagles and Redhawks will face off in game two of the series Saturday afternoon, kicking things off with a 2 p.m. first pitch.
