Tech baseball picked to finish third in OVC Preseason Poll
Garnering a pair of first-place votes, and a total of 63 points, TTU has been picked to finish third for the second straight season
The preseason poll was conducted by the head coaches and sports information directors from around the OVC and it is the second straight season Tech has been picked to finish third .
Garnering a pair of first-place votes, and a total of 63 points, TTU has been picked to finish third for the second straight season. Last season, Tech finished with a 25-29 record and made its fourth straight appearance in the OVC Tournament.
Austin Peay took the top spot in the poll as it received seven first-place votes and a total of 79 points. APSU edged out Jacksonville State for the top spot by six points, as the Gamecocks received just one first place vote.
Southeast Missouri took fourth place in the poll with 52 points and was followed closely by OVC newcomer SIU Edwardsville (48) and Eastern Kentucky (45).
Eastern Illinois (34), UT Martin (25), Murray State (21) and Morehead State (10) rounded out the final four spots in the poll.
SEMO's Trenton Moses has named the OVC Preseason Player of the Year, while JSU's Todd Hornsby was named the Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
The Golden Eagles open their 2012 season Feb. 17 against Missouri State as they take part in the Red Raider Classic in Lubbock, Texas.
