COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech beach volleyball team embarks on its third Ohio Valley Conference Championship on Thursday, traveling south to Chattanooga for day one of competition at the league's annual postseason event.
With up to three days of action on the docket, the No. 5-seeded Golden Eagles will open the weekend with a 9:00 a.m. CT tilt against No. 4 Lindenwood on Thursday morning. A victory for the purple and gold would bring forth another tilt for Tech on Thursday, this one a 2:00 p.m. affair with No. 1 Chattanooga.
If the Cookeville crew were to fall to the Lions, they would play their second dual of the tournament Friday morning in an 11:00 a.m. tilt against a possibility of three different teams. The OVC Tournament uses a double-elimination format until the Championship Match, with a "Winner Take All" dual set for Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Every match of the OVC Tournament is slated to be streamed live on ESPN+.
The lineup will mirror that of the team's groupings last weekend at the second OVC weekend of competition in Morehead, Ky., where the Golden Eagles finished 1-3 with a pair of close, 3-2 losses. At the No. 1 slot, redshirt sophomore Jordan Karlen and senior Bella Powell will look to stay hot after winning each of their final two duels last weekend.
Competing for Tech in the No. 2 spot, senior Brooke Amann and freshman Alayna Pierce will hope to ride the momentum from their match-clinching win against Eastern Illinois last week. Joining together at the No. 3 position, senior Aleeya Jones and sophomore MK Roberts enter the league tournament after a 3-1 performance last weekend.
Leading the purple and gold in the No. 4 slot for the weekend are senior Emma Pabon and sophomore Ava Schubert. At the No. 5 position are seniors Jazmine Yamilkoski and McKenaa Young, who combined for a pair of wins last weekend.
