One of five seniors on the cross cuntry roster in 2009, Peter
provided leadership and ran in every race for the Golden
Eagles...has proven to be a top-notch student-athlete...competed
for three years at Tech after one year at American University in
Washington, D.C...a veteran runner with excellent experience, both
on the high school and collegiate levels...recognized for solid
academic efforts by being named four times to the Athletic
Director's Honor Roll.
AT TECH - (In 2009): Peter ran in all seven meets
in 2009 and finished everywhere on the team from sixth to
first...led the Golden Eagle effort at Evansville with a time of
27:00.53...had a time of 27:23 at the TTU Invitational and clocked
a 27.31.16 at the OVC Championshios where he was second on the
squad.
(In 2008): Peter was a consistent presence, and ran in
all six meets that Tech competed in during his junior year of
competition...his best time was clocked in at Evansville with a
finish of 27:32, which also stands as his career-best time at
Tech...finished in third on the team at Vanderbilt...placed fourth
at Sewanee and the Ohio Valley Championships.
(In 2007): Peter's better performances came in
the Sewanee and Furman Invitationals, where he placed sixth of his
teammates in each meet...His best time came in the Old Timers
Classic, where he was clocked in at 29:09.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner for both the track
& field and cross country teams at Farragut High
School...earned all-region and all-state honors.
PERSONAL: The son of Doug and Anna Woerner...born
September 4, 1987 in Bangor, Maine...working as a double major in
mathematics and physics.
