Ben capped off his fourth and final season with the Golden Eagle
squad by competing in every meet in 2009...a solid competitor and a
proven student in the classroom...a five-time selection of the
Athletic Director's Honor Roll in recognition of his strong efforts
in the classroom.
AT TECH - (In 2009): Ben covered the route in all
seven meets during his senior season... season-best time of
28:09.03 was marked at the Evansville Invitational.
(In 2008): Ben was a solid achiever through his junior
season...his best time came with a team fifth-place showing at
Evansville, where he was clocked in at 27:08.74, which stands as
his career-best time...he came in second on the squad at both
Vanderbilt and Furman...he finished with a third-place showing at
the Tennessee Tech Invitational.
(In 2007): Ben's best showings were at the
Sewanee and Furman Invitationals, where he finished third of his
teammates in both races...He also finished fourth in three other
events (Chattanooga Invitational, Old Timers Classic, OVC
Championships)...His best time was clocked in during the OVC
Championship meet at 28:01.
(In 2006): Freshman season was marked by
cocnsistency as Ben ran in every race and finished third on the
squad in the final five events...opened the year fourth on the team
and 64th overall at the Sewanee Invitational in 29:29.40...improved
his 8K time to under 28 minutes in the final two meets...ran a
career-best 27:11 to finish 30th overall at Evansville...clocked in
a 27:58 for a 44th place showing at the OVC Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ben lettered three times on each
squad and served as captains for the cross country and the track
team at Fossil Ridge High School...he also earned one letter on the
soccer team as a goalkeeper ...as a distance runner, Ben was a
two-time all-district selection and sectional qualifier...he was
the district runner up in cross country in 2005 as a junior.
PERSONAL: Benjamin is the son of Quanah and Susan
Thompson...born October 16, 1987...full name is Quanah Benjamin
Thompson...majoring in health and physical education.
