Bio
Leayn is now in her third season on the Golden Eagle roster, and
will compete in the long and triple jumps, as well as running in
the relays...she had a strong first season at Tech in
2007-08...continued to strongly improve during the 2008-09
season...a versatile athlete who lettered in three sports during
her high school career at Rhea County...was a high school teammate
of fellow Golden Eagle sophomore Danielle Catlett.
AT TECH - (In 2008-09): Leayn competed
in the long jump, triple jump and 400m dash during the spring
indoor track season...best distance in the long jump was 15' 4.75"
at Sewanee...achieved a personal career-best distance of 34' 10.25"
in the triple jump at the OVC Indoor Championships...also achieved
a best time in the 400m dash at the OVC Championships of
1:03.76...participated in the same three events during the outdoor
season...cleared 16' 11.25" in the long jump at Murray State, which
set the team's season-best mark...also set a team season-best mark
in the triple jump with a distance of 35' 9.5" at
Winthrop...achieved her best seasonal time in the 400m dash at the
OVC Championships with a time of 1:01.63...was a participant on the
4x400 relay team at the OVC Championships that set the fourth-best
mark in school history for that event with a time of
4:03.59...other participants on that relay were Jenna Philpott,
Danielle Catlett and Emily Weinzetl.
(In 2007-08): Leayn competed in four indoor
events during her freshman track season (60m hurdles, 400m hurdles,
the long jump, and the triple jump)...she also competed in the
outdoor 400m event...she had Tech's best time in that event in the
OVC Championships, with a 1:01 performance...she set the third-best
time on the squad for the season in the 60m competition at the ETSU
Invitational, where she came in with an 8.72 performance...in the
400m event, she set the best time on the team when she clocked in a
61.61 performance at the OVC Championships...Leayn also set the
season's best distances in the jumps category...she went 15 feet,
11 inches in the TSU Invitational for the long jump, and 33 feet,
9.5 inches for the triple jump at Sewanee...she participated in the
4X400 relay event at the OVC Championships, where her team finished
with a time of 4:08.25, which stands in the record books as the
sixth-best time in Tech history for the event.
HIGH SCHOOL: A three-sport letter winner at Rhea County
High School...standout on the track & field team for coach
Stefan Holder, competing in the 400m, triple jump and long
jump...helped her team win the 4x400 regional championship as a
senior...named all-district and qualified for the TSSAA state meet,
where the relay foursome finished 13th..also lettered on the
volleyball and wrestling teams.
PERSONAL: The daughter of Robert and Debbie Carter...full
name is Leayn Noel Carter...birthdate is January 1, 1989...enrolled
in nursing.
