Tech women win 11th OVC tournament title, topping Lindenwood in OT

EVANSVILLE, Tenn. – When Keeley Carter stepped onto the Tennessee Tech campus for the first time as a member of the Golden Eagle women’s basketball team, she didn’t know what to expect, but she knew one thing: “It was going to be special,” she said. She fought back tears during the post-game press conference after being named the Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Championships Most Valuable Player, helping lead Tech to a thrilling 82-76 overtime victory.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – It’s hard to beat a team three times in the same season, much less twice on their home turf. Southern Indiana might have had the fans at their back, but the top-seeded Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team has been there in hostile environments. Instead, the Golden Eagles stood tall, showing grit and determination. The Tech women – now on their 16th straight victory – are in it to win it and they aren’t stopping now. The Golden Eagles topped Southern Indiana 88-78 on Friday afternoon in the Ford Center in the OVC Basketball Championship semifinals and now advance to their 25th OVC championship game. Tech will play Lindenwood for the title at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Ford Center. The game will be live on 106.1 The Eagle with Dylan Vazzano and Frank Harrell on the call, while Dorian Craft and Lexi Ayala will handle broadcasting duties on ESPN+ (subscription required).

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A No. 4 projection in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll? One might think that could be a slight to the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team as the Golden Eagles enter the 2024-25 campaign. No, for head coach Kim Rosamond and the Tech roster, it’s a mission statement. After all, with six straight winning seasons – with double-digit OVC wins in each year at that – the road to the conference championship is coming through Cookeville as it has many times before.
