BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – As the buzzer sounded at Assembly Hall sounding the end of the contest, there were tears. Of course there would be – the tremendous journey the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball went on was an arduous one with a lot to celebrate. The Golden Eagles accomplished a lot – the program’s 10th Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship, its 11th NCAA tournament appearance, its fourth NCAA tournament victory. But with the bonds the team built, the sisterhood they formed, the tears were earnest and deserved.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Tennessee Tech’s season is not over yet – far from it. For the first time in 23 years, the Golden Eagles are heading back to the NCAA Tournament.  With a program as tradition-rich as Tennessee Tech is, it’s been a long wait and for Kim Rosamond, her staff and everyone who wears the Purple and Gold, it’s good to be back.  The Golden Eagles stunned one of the country’s stingiest defenses and tournament No. 1-seed Little Rock with a 54-46 victory in the Ohio Valley Conference championship game at the Ford Center on Saturday with a slow-and-steady effort that broke down the Trojans’ defensive effort.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Anna Walker came out in force, pacing the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team in its Ohio Valley Conference quarterfinal contest against SIUE on Thursday. She had eight points alone in the first quarter and finished with 16 in the contest to lead all scorers as the Golden Eagles took a 76-62 victory over the Cougars. Golden Eagle women fall in nail-biter to Little Rock

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Saturday’s game was everything one could ask for in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup between two of the top three teams. The Tennessee Tech women battled back from a 12-point deficit and it was a battle the rest of the way going down to the wire. Little Rock might have won the day, escaping the Eblen Center with a 66-63 victory, but Tennessee Tech certainly made them earn it. The improvement showed from the first meeting to the next and it makes a potential showdown in Evansville an intriguing one. So 63 points? That’s not just the most any OVC team has scored against the Trojans this season, it’s the fifth-most points scored by any opponents in Little Rock’s 21 games played. The teams that have scored more? Arkansas (93), Oral Roberts (74), Auburn (70) and Alabama (69).

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It was fitting that Reagan Hurst had a great night in front of the home crowd as she scored a season-best 19 points in her redshirt freshman campaign. The product from nearby Upperman High shot 8-for-12 from the field along the way as the reigning OVC Freshman of the Week also had two rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block – and was also honored as the Student-Athlete of the Game during the men’s half of the twinbill. But Eastern Illinois gave a fight as the Ohio Valley Conference overall record leaders escaped the Hooper Eblen Center with a 67-62 victory on Thursday night.
