OXFORD, Ala. – After Southeast Missouri went up 5-0 in the top of the first, the Tennessee Tech softball team didn’t back down. Abby Buettner drilled two home runs and picked up all five Golden Eagle RBI in the game, but the game wasn’t out of reach at any point. While the Golden Eagles fell 6-5 in the contest Thursday night, Tech had every opportunity to retake the lead.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – After a 12-0 lead in game one, the Tennessee Tech softball team saw Eastern Illinois rally back, tying the game in the seventh inning to send the contest into extra innings, then the Panthers walked off the game in the eighth for a 16-15 victory over the Golden Eagles. In game two, Tech tied the game at four runs each early, but EIU (25-29, 10-17 Ohio Valley Conference) shut the Golden Eagles down offensively and took a 10-4 victory.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech was able to chase off Murray State ace Hannah James after one inning, but the visiting Racers rallied late to take a 7-3 victory over the Golden Eagles on Sunday. Haeli Bryson was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Golden Eagles (31-18, 13-12 Ohio Valley Conference), while Sierra Gilmore had three RBI and Logan Braundmeier, Gracie Osbron and Erin Lackey each went 2-for-4 to lead the Racers (34-14-1, 19-6 OVC) to keep pace a game back of Belmont in the league standings.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team honored its seniors on Saturday, but it turned out to be a tough day for the Golden Eagles as Murray State, still looking to unseat Belmont from the top spot in the Ohio Valley Conference, took two from Tech on Saturday. The Racers (34-14-1, 18-6 OVC) won game one 7-3 behind OVC Pitcher of the Year contender Hannah James, but it was a close game for most of the contest with Murray not collecting its first hit until the fifth inning.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It’s amazing how quickly time flies. It just seems like yesterday that the 2022 campaign kicked off, even if it was two-and-a-half months ago. It’s even more surreal for the Tennessee Tech seniors who are wrapping up their Golden Eagle careers this season and entering their final games at the Tech Softball Field. Tech hosts Murray State, who dropped into second place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings on Wednesday, but still very much in contention for the regular-season title. The games are slated for a doubleheader Saturday, starting at 1 p.m., followed by a single game on Sunday.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It was a day with a lot of ups and downs as the Tennessee Tech softball team saw a split against Morehead State. The visiting Eagles won the day’s opener as MSU held the Golden Eagles to four hits in a 5-2 victory, then Tech took the nightcap by the same score, 5-2. The Golden Eagles (31-15, 13-9 Ohio Valley Conference) return to action on Saturday and Sunday as they host Murray State in a three-game set.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Five games remain for the Tennessee Tech softball team at its friendly confines of the Tech Softball Field for the 2022 campaign and they’re all important games for the Golden Eagles as they try to lock down seeding in the OVC Softball Championship at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. The home action begins on Wednesday as the Golden Eagles host Morehead State in a twinbill starting at 3 p.m. Tech will then host conference co-leader Murray State with a doubleheader Saturday and a single game on Sunday. The team will recognize its three departing seniors – Sydney Love-Baker, Callie Piper and Shelby Penning – in the home finale as part of Senior Day festivities. Admission to all games at Tech Softball Field is free to the public.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State made Tennessee Tech earn everything on Saturday, keeping the Golden Eagles quiet on the scoreboard. Tech had to tie the day’s opener in the sixth inning, then earn the extra-inning victory in the eighth to claim the opener 4-3. Then, after trailing 2-0 early, the Golden Eagles rallied for single runs in the third, fourth and fifth to take a 3-2 win in the nightcap.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – If the Tennessee Tech softball team keeps winning at home, they may never want to hit the road again. The Golden Eagles used some late-inning heroics in both games to earn the sweep over SIUE and improve their record at the Tech Softball Field to 11-0 on the season. It is the longest home winning streak since 2007, where Tech went 15-0 en route to a 20-2 mark at home.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – After Austin Peay rallied to take the first game 9-4 on Saturday, the Tennessee Tech softball team bounced back in a big way, run-ruling the Governors 11-1 in the nightcap to earn a doubleheader split. The Golden Eagles (23-10, 6-4 Ohio Valley Conference) hit five home runs on the day. Mackenzie Fitzgerald hit three of them, posting five RBI in total during both games, while Savannah Talley hit Tech’s fourth grand slam of the season in game two, giving the Golden Eagles 35 total home runs thus far.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – It’ll be a quick turnaround for the Tennessee Tech softball team. After taking the first two games against Morehead State in the travel partner home-and-home doubleheaders, the Golden Eagles will hit the road once more this week as they prepare to head to Clarksville on Saturday and Sunday for a three-game set against Austin Peay. The series, the last between these Ohio Valley Conference in-state rivals since the Govs are joining the Atlantic Sun Conference next season, will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required). First pitch on Saturday’s doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m., as is Sunday’s single game.

MOREHEAD, Ky. – With the way the wind was whipping around Morehead State’s University Field, the Tennessee Tech softball team still found ways to hit bombs on Wednesday afternoon, knocking five home runs out of the park in a pair of five-inning run-ruled victories. The Golden Eagles (22-9, 5-3 Ohio Valley Conference) saw Shelby Penning collect five RBI in the day’s 9-1 opener with a grand slam and a solo home run, then Haeli Bryson, Abby Buettner and Sydney Love-Baker all went yard in the night cap to get an 8-0 victory to win their fifth straight game. Morehead State falls to 2-22 on the season, 1-7 in league play.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Haeli Bryson didn’t record a strikeout until the seventh inning, but she didn’t need to. Her Tennessee Tech teammates behind her were playing stellar defense. Stranding nine Southeast Missouri baserunners in the contest, the Golden Eagles were able to make a two-run lead stick and sweep the Redhawks with a 2-0 victory on Sunday at Tech Softball Field. With the win, the Golden Eagles (20-9, 3-3 Ohio Valley Conference) reached 20 wins for the first time since the 2016 campaign – and there’s still over a month remaining in the regular season. The victory also gave Tech its first three-game sweep over SEMO since the 2006 season.

MARTIN, Tenn. – UT Martin struck for six runs in the fourth inning and it was all the Skyhawks needed to take the first win of the three-game series on Saturday, topping the Tennessee Tech squad 8-4 and snapping the Golden Eagles’ eight-game winning streak. Haeli Bryson was the only Tech player to get multiple hits in the contest, driving in two of the team's four runs on a two-run home run in the fifth inning.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the way Abby Buettner was hitting over the last four days, the Tennessee Tech designated player might not have wanted the Golden Eagle Classic to end. Buettner hit two home runs against Indiana State and had six RBI on Monday to lead the Golden Eagles to an 11-3 win over Bellarmine and a 7-4 win over the Sycamores to close out the event. Buettner finished the tournament hitting .462 with four home runs and 11 RBI.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – As the Tennessee Tech softball team got a taste of normal weekend action on Saturday with a doubleheader against East Tennessee State, the first two portions of a three-game series, the Golden Eagles struck often, claiming a late-inning 4-3 victory in the opener, then opening the floodgates in game two for a 9-4 victory. The Golden Eagles (11-6) return to action on Sunday for the final game of the series, starting at 12 p.m. Central. Haeli Bryson and Mackenzie Fitzgerald both went yard for the Golden Eagles. Fitzgerald’s blast came as a solo shot in the top of the fifth inning, then Bryson knocked out two in the nightcap, leading off the fourth and fifth innings with solo shots.

Sounds like a solid day of work for the Tennessee Tech softball team on Saturday as the Golden Eagles topped Pitt 10-7, then defeated Cleveland State 8-3 on Saturday on the second day of the Wings Etc. Classic. Tech (9-5) closes out play in the tournament on Sunday at noon against tournament host USC Upstate.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team lost a heartbreaker on Sunday afternoon to close out the Chattanooga Challenge as the Golden Eagles took the lead in the top of the seventh inning, only to see Radford dash their hopes for the win with a walkoff home run to fall to the Highlanders 5-4. Tech (7-3) will return home to take on Northern Iowa for a midweek contest to open the season’s action at Tech Softball Field on Wednesday, weather permitting. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. and admission is free.

The Golden Eagles (7-2) return to action on Sunday to close out the tournament with a 12:30 contest against Radford.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The bats were swinging well on Friday as the Tennessee Tech softball team went 2-0 on the first day of the Chattanooga Challenge. The Golden Eagles drove in 21 total runs in two games, run-ruling Purdue Fort Wayne 16-2 in five innings, then shutting out Northwestern State 5-0 in the second game. Haeli Bryson continued her hot streak, driving in seven RBI on the day as she was 3-for-7 at the plate. In the first seven games of the season, Bryson has 15 total RBI, eight shy of the total team-leading 23 collected by Nicolle Nysted last season. The team as a whole has 51, over a third of the 144 driven in at the conclusion of the season.

CLINTON, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech softball team closed out the final day of the Blue Hose Invitational on a high note as the Golden Eagles struck for 13 runs and freshman Tyler Erwin picked up her first career victory in the circle as Tech shut out South Carolina State 13-0 in five innings. Erwin threw the first four innings, allowing four hits and striking out four. Callie Piper closed out the game in the fifth, yielding a hit while striking out another Bulldog.

CLINTON, S.C. – It was a day for senior Haeli Bryson as she drove in Tennessee Tech’s first runs of the year against Northern Kentucky, hit the Golden Eagles’ first home run of the season against Presbyterian, then claimed a win in the circle against the host Blue Hose on Friday afternoon as Tech went 2-0 on the opening day of the season at the Blue Hose Invitational. It is the first 2-0 Opening Day performance for the Golden Eagles since the 2004 campaign.
