AT WALTERS STATE: Dukes finished the most recent season hitting .358 as she drove in 35 RBI, hit six home runs and stole five bases. She put up similar stats as a freshman with a .387 clip, 37 RBI, two homers and five steals.

HIGH SCHOOL: At Hardin Valley Academy, Dukes helped lead the team to district and region titles in 2015 and 2016, while reaching the TSSAA state tournament in 2015. She batted .430 in her senior season with four home runs, an uptick from her junior campaign with a .385 average and four homers. Dukes was twice named all-district and earned TSCA all-state honors.

OXFORD, Ala. – The hard part is out of the way as the Tennessee Tech softball team advanced past the single-elimination contests on Wednesday and will now see at least two more games as the Golden Eagles will play UT Martin this afternoon at 3 p.m. Tech took a 3-1 victory over Eastern Illinois in the day’s opener. It was a pitchers’ duel for the longest time as the two teams went scoreless through the first three frames.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – After a 12-0 lead in game one, the Tennessee Tech softball team saw Eastern Illinois rally back, tying the game in the seventh inning to send the contest into extra innings, then the Panthers walked off the game in the eighth for a 16-15 victory over the Golden Eagles. In game two, Tech tied the game at four runs each early, but EIU (25-29, 10-17 Ohio Valley Conference) shut the Golden Eagles down offensively and took a 10-4 victory.

However, the Bruins spoiled that and more, going on to sweep the Golden Eagles in the twinbill. Elison Ollinger hit a solo home run to break up the no-hit bid, then drove in two more in the eighth inning as the Bruins earned a 5-1 victory in eight innings in game one. She finished the night with five RBI as she also had a two-run home run in the first inning of game two. After the Golden Eagles tied the game in the second inning, the Bruins struck for nine runs in the top of the fifth inning as Belmont collected seven straight hits and tallied nine total in the frame to force the run rule in the nightcap, topping Tech 13-4.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After a tough weekend at UT Martin last week, the Tennessee Tech softball team rebounded in a big way on Saturday, taking both ends of the doubleheader against defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Southeast Missouri, claiming both games in dramatic fashion. After all, there’s nothing more dramatic than a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Carmen Betts did just that, facing an 0-2 count with two down – a pitch away from going to another extra frame. The solo shot gave the Golden Eagles (19-9, 2-3 OVC) a 5-4 victory in the nightcap. Alyssa Arden also completed the 10-inning marathon, throwing 178 pitches to pick up her league-leading 10th victory of the season in the full-game effort.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the way Abby Buettner was hitting over the last four days, the Tennessee Tech designated player might not have wanted the Golden Eagle Classic to end. Buettner hit two home runs against Indiana State and had six RBI on Monday to lead the Golden Eagles to an 11-3 win over Bellarmine and a 7-4 win over the Sycamores to close out the event. Buettner finished the tournament hitting .462 with four home runs and 11 RBI.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --  The Tennessee Tech offense came out on fire in the first game of the Golden Eagle Classic against Quinnipiac, then Tyler Erwin claimed a victory in the pitcher’s duel in the night cap as the Golden Eagles won their fifth straight game and five of their last six, topping the Bobcats 11-0 in five innings, then beating Quinnipiac 2-0 in the second game. The Golden Eagles (14-6) return to action on Sunday as the Golden Eagle Classic continues. Eight newcomers are scattered across the 20-player roster, giving the Golden Eagles a different complexion They’ll be put to the test immediately as Tech opens the season at the Blue Hose Invitational, hosted by Presbyterian College. In addition to the hosts, the Golden Eagles will also face Northern Kentucky and South Carolina State in the three-day event.
