NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team rallied to take the lead in the sixth, but the valiant effort was dashed as Lipscomb tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, then hit a walk-off leadoff home run in the home half of the seventh to take the rubber game 6-5 on Sunday afternoon. In all, Lipscomb (11-10) hit four home runs in the contest, accounting for five of its six runs in the contest. The Golden Eagles (10-9) return to action on Friday as they return to Johnson City for the ETSU Classic as they take on Radford and host East Tennessee State.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Recent years have not been kind for the Tennessee Tech softball team when it took on Lipscomb, with the last win against the Lady Bisons coming in 2016, then 2009 before that. Alyssa Arden and Alexis Trimiar changed that in the first game Saturday as the Golden Eagles won their 10th game of the 2020 campaign, topping Lipscomb 3-1 in eight innings during the opener. The Golden Eagles (10-8) almost made it two on Saturday, taking a 6-0 lead, but the Lady Bisons rallied back to come-from-behind and get the walk-off victory in the nightcap, 8-7.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The last time Tennessee Tech faced Bowling Green on Feb. 14, starting pitcher Payton Gottshall struck out 17 Golden Eagles en route to a 3-1 victory. Tech (9-7) was determined not to let that happen again. Instead, it was Alyssa Arden who proved dominant as the sophomore pitcher earned the complete game victory as she walked one, allowed a hit on a bunt and struck out a career-high 11 to take a 4-0 victory over the Falcons and avenge the earlier loss. The Golden Eagles, however, wrapped up Sunday’s action with homestanding East Tennessee State, falling 10-1 in six innings.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – For the first four innings on Sunday, it looked like Tennessee Tech’s offensive slump was continuing as Chattanooga pitcher Allison Swinford yielded three hits – including a solo home run to Sydney Love-Baker – and not much else to the Golden Eagle batters. That all changed in the fifth inning as the Golden Eagles (6-4) struck for six runs in the frame to move atop the Mocs and take a 7-5 victory to close out the Chattanooga Challenge on Sunday. Love-Baker, who ended the game with a 1-for-3 performance with the home run, drove in two runs and scored two runs in the contest. Haeli Bryson also drove in two runs for the Golden Eagles.
