Spring 2019 (Sophomore): Brooks played in each of Tech’s six events in the spring, finishing 18 rounds of play… turned in a 74-67-71=212 at the Big Blue Intercollegiate (Apr. 8-9), his low event of the spring… also earned his best finish of the year by tying for sixth at the same event… fired two 67s during the spring for his low round of the year, including at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (Mar. 17-19)… shared the team’s Gilbert Darcy MVP honors with fellow sophomore Bracton Womack… also named the team’s Low Average Award winner after pacing the team with a scoring mark of 72.94.
Fall 2018 (Sophomore): Brooks took part in all five of the team’s fall tournaments, completing 15 rounds of action… kicked off the year with a fall-low 211 at the GolfWeek Program Challenge (Sept. 9-11) with back-to-back rounds of 69 to finish the event… fired his low-round of the fall, a 68, at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic (Oct. 15-16)… finished the semester with a scoring average of 72.87.
Spring 2018 (Freshman): Brooks competed in all six of the team’s spring tournaments, racking up 18 rounds of action… earned his second All-Tournament honors while carding a 72-73-74=219 to tie for fifth at the OVC Championships (Apr. 23-25)… also turned in a 219 at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, posting rounds of 74, 71 and 74… shared the team’s Impact Award with teammate Bracton Womack… sported the lowest scoring average for a Tech freshman in over a decade, finishing at 74.25.
Fall 2017 (Freshman): Brooks played in five of Tech’s six fall events, totaling 14 rounds of play… broke the program’s freshman scoring record with a 6-under 66 in the second round of the MTSU Intercollegiate (Oct. 30), the eighth-lowest single round in program history… earned a third-place finish in the event, his first All-Tournament honor… made his collegiate debut with a top-25 finish at the Murray State Invitational (Sept. 11-12), turning in a season-low 70-75-73=218… posted a 218 to finish in the top-10 at the Samford Intercollegiate (Oct. 23-24), with rounds of 72, 71 and 75… finished the fall with a scoring average of 73.43.
High School: Brooks was a four-year letterwinner at Cookeville High School, playing for head coach Larry Pitts… named district Co-Player of the Year as a senior… earned All-Midstate recognition as a sophomore… helped CHS to district titles all four years and to region titles as a freshman and sophomore… led team to appearances at the state tournament as a freshman and sophomore… saw consistent improvement in scoring averages throughout his career, posting averages of 75.4 as a freshman, 74.2 as a sophomore, 72.7 as a junior and 70.5 as a senior… also played basketball for head coach Matt Hill.
Personal: Son of Sam and Tera Brooks… born January 7, 1999… full name is William Brooks… father, Sam, played football at Tech from 1986-1990 and serves as an analyst for Golden Eagle football games on ESPN+… teamed up with Belmont’s Jack Uselton to capture the 49th Annual Tennessee Four-Ball Championship at Cherokee Country Club in July, 2019.
