2023 (Freshman): Played in nine games ... made his debut against New Mexico (9/9/23) ... had six total tackles -- four solo and two assisted ... recorded two tackles against the Lobos and UT Martin ... also forced a fumble against the Skyhawks (11/4/23).

HIGH SCHOOL: Hunter was named to the Region 7-7A first-team defensive roster and was awarded the Touchdown Club of Gwinnett's Cecil Morris Award as an all-county caliber player whose season was cut short to injury. It was still a fruitful campaign with a punt block against Meadowcreek and an interception return for a touchdown against Duluth. He finished the season with four interceptions, two forced fumbles, two punts blocked for touchdowns, 16 pass breakups and led his county in turnovers. In his career, he collected over 200 tackles, had 30 pass breakups, six interceptions and four blocked punts.

PERSONAL: The son of Chevelle Hunter ... brother Jammany played four seasons of lacrosse at Oglethorpe ... born November 13, 2004.

Golden Eagles cage Tigers to open conference play

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – When it mattered the most, the Tennessee Tech defense came through. The Golden Eagles found ways to pressure Tennessee State quarterback Draylen Ellis, sacking him seven times and hurried him out of the pocket seven times. Tech’s defense also held State to exactly zero rushing yards on 27 carries. Defensive back Ty Moss then sealed the deal with a 56-yard interception return for a touchdown with just over a minute remaining in the contest to lead the Golden Eagles to a 24-14 victory over their in-state rivals and claim the first salvo in the hunt for the Sergeant York Trophy. Tech improves to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference Football Association, putting the first victory in head coach Bobby Wilder’s column in his Cookeville career. It’s also the first back-to-back wins over the Tigers since winning three straight between 2015 and 2017.
