Fall 2021: Maples played in all 11 games ... caught 17 passes for 192 yards with two touchdowns ... had a career-high 108 yards on nine catches in the finale at Austin Peay (11/20/21) ... caught his first career touchdown against Southeast Missouri (10/2/21).

Spring 2021: Saw action in six games ... caught two passes for 58 yards, including a career-long 39-yarder against Tennessee State ... also had four tackles during the campaign, including two at Eastern Illinois.

HIGH SCHOOL: Maples certainly isn't any stranger to Tucker Stadium, helping lead his Maryville squad to two TSSAA BlueCross Bowl Class 6A state championships in 2017 and 2019. He was recently named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's Class 6A All-State team and was an All-Region 2-6A selection. In the 2019 campaign, Maples caught 31 passes for 710 yards and 13 touchdowns. In the Rebels' win over Ravenwood in the Class 6A title game, Maples caught two passes for 19 yards and a touchdown.

Tech football heads to the Cape to take on No. 21 Southeast Missouri

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The last time Tennessee Tech and Southeast Missouri faced, the Golden Eagles stunned the high-flying Redhawks in Tucker Stadium as David Gist ran for two touchdowns, then Willie Miller threw touchdown strikes to Quinton Cross and Ashton Maples as the Tech squad emerged with a 28-17 victory. That was last year and this is now. As the series continues this Saturday at the under-construction Houck Field, there’s a lot of returning faces for both sides with some exciting newcomers to make this hotly contested series an interesting one as it resumes Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. Roger Ealey and Dylan Vazzano will handle the radio call on 98.5 KISS FM, while the game will also be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It was a wild finish at Tucker Stadium on Saturday night as the Tennessee Tech football team scored 20 points in the fourth quarter and overcame a 19-6 deficit to take a 26-25 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce. Turnovers stalled the Golden Eagle offense in the first half as Tech saw passes picked off in two of its first three drives, then two lost fumbles deep in the Golden Eagles’ territory led to quick, short-field scores as Eric Rodriguez threw two touchdown passes, completing a 37-yard strike to Andrew Armstrong and a 20-yard scoring pass to B.J. Busbee. After missing the first PAT, Emmanuel Adagbon hit the second to put the Lions up 13-0  with 13:18 remaining in the first half.

Golden Eagle depth shines through in first scrimmage

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech’s first football scrimmage was a positive one on Saturday night as the Golden Eagles’ depth proved fruitful in fans’ first look at the team. Both sides of the ball saw plenty of highlights as Tech players from all class levels were able to showcase their skills in front of the fans. Tech’s offense picked up its first score as Jeremiah Oatsvall fired to the end zone to a leaping Hunter Barnhart for the 18-yard connection between a pair of defenders. Oatsvall later scored on a two-yard quarterback keeper to end a 42-yard drive.
