Bio
HIGH SCHOOL: Cantrell was a three-year starter for the Oakland HS squad, helping his Patriots squad to the recent TSSAA Class 6A State Championship in the BlueCross Bowl at Tucker Stadium. This past season, he was named to the all-region team and was a preseason all-state selection. He earned all-state, all-region and defensive lineman of the year honors in his region as a junior. He is also a versatile player, playing tight end and fullback as well for head coach Kevin Creasy. He recently was selected for the TACA All-Star Game roster.
 
PERSONAL: The son of Greg Cantrell and Anna Eguenbor ... full name is Christian Devon Cantrell ... born Nov. 19, 2000, in Nashville ... brother, Greg, ran track and field for two years at Middle Tennessee.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the success the Tennessee Tech football team had in 2019, there was no question whether the Golden Eagles were moving in the right direction. The team got some vindication in that on Wednesday as the Golden Eagles garnered three selections on the Phil Steele Football Championship Subdivision Freshman All-America team as offensive lineman Trevor Stephens and defensive lineman Kail Dava earned third-team spots, while defensive lineman Christian Cantrell was a fourth-team pick.

Golden Eagles not taking 0-4 Panthers lightly as OVC play begins

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The moment the ball is kicked off on Saturday, it’s a brand new start. Sure, the 3-1 start the Tennessee Tech football team has right now is fantastic, but as the Ohio Valley Conference schedule starts in earnest this weekend, that is what will determine the team’s postseason fate. The last time the Golden Eagles started 3-1 was 2011 – the year the Golden Eagles clinched a share of the OVC title with Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky (beating them both on their home fields) and earning the league’s automatic bid to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. But, make no mistake, every week is going to be a fight.
