HIGH SCHOOL: An exceptional defensive force, Thompson picked off eight passes for a combined 186 yards while also deflecting seven passes last season. He also had 33 tackles – 27 solo and six assisted. Thompson also saw action on the offensive side of the ball, catching 26 passes for 393 yards and seven touchdowns. He ended his career with 81 tackles, 10 interceptions, 17 deflections, 1,324 all-purpose yards and 17 touchdowns. He was named to the first-team all-state team, as well as the the all-metro and all-region teams.

Freshman runners among highlights of Tech football's second scrimmage

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – What a difference a week makes. After a good showing in their first scrimmage of fall camp, the Tennessee Tech football team put together a much improved effort on the field on Sunday. While there’s still some kinks to work out, there was still plenty for head coach Dewayne Alexander to be happy about. Deven Sullivan scored on the first drive of the day, scoring from four yards out. Tech’s defensive units then put together some great stops, resulting in seven drives with nothing to show for the offense. Brian Thompson picked off a pass, while Andrew Swicegood and Chris Tucker came away with sacks.
