For the Golden Eagles, though, it was Andrew Goldsmith’s day. The junior from Jackson got another appearance in front of his hometown crowd and made plenty of noise, rushing for two touchdowns and 60 yards on 16 carries, while also catching three passes for 14 yards.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- With the Tennessee Tech football team earning the Homecoming win on Saturday, the Golden Eagles earned some rewards on Sunday. True freshman quarterback Bailey Fisher split the Ohio Valley Conference's Offensive Player of the Week honor with Southeast Missouri senuir running back Marquis Terry. The honor was voted on by the league's sports information contacts.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It’s simple to type out the result, describe the big plays and just simply knock out a game story. But Tennessee Tech’s 27-24 win over Murray State on Saturday wasn’t just any other game. This was a statement, evidence in what head coach Dewayne Alexander planned to achieve with the Golden Eagles as he earned his first win as Tech's coach.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – In recent years, Homecoming has been a good day for the Tennessee Tech football team with the Golden Eagles winning three of the last four annual contests. The 2018 Tech squad is hoping for similar fortune on Saturday as Murray State comes to town for the Golden Eagles’ 88th Homecoming game. Kickoff from Tucker Stadium is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – With Austin Peay coming off of an open date after a frustrating Ohio Valley Conference loss at Southeast Missouri, the Tennessee Tech football team ran into a determined Governors squad looking to rebound on their Homecoming. While Tech did put together solid offensive numbers, APSU still put plenty of points on the board, taking a 41-10 victory over the Golden Eagles on Saturday. Bailey Fisher threw a 23-yard touchdown strike to David Gist and Nick Madonia kicked a 24-yard field goal and a PAT to complete Tech’s scoring.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – If Tennessee Tech could find a way to put its fourth-quarter production to work for an entire 60 minutes, the Golden Eagles might be onto something. A couple of costly turnovers early saw Tennessee State build momentum early and Micheal Hughes made the Golden Eagles pay, leading the Tigers to a 41-14 Homecoming win at Nissan Stadium on Saturday evening. Tech fell to 0-7 on the season, 0-4 in Ohio Valley Conference play, while the Tigers improve to 3-3, 2-2 in the league.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the open date now out of the way, the Tennessee Tech football team is looking to close out the final five weeks of the 2018 season on a high note. Especially since the Golden Eagles still have plenty to play for. In the final five contests, three of the games encompass Tech’s run for the Sergeant York Trophy, starting with Saturday’s contest against Tennessee State.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Bailey Fisher, in just his first six games of his young career with the Tennessee Tech football team, has made quite an impact. That certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed by teams in the Ohio Valley Conference, but he’s also gaining some notoriety nationally as Fisher was selected for the STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award watch list as the first grouping of nominees were announced on Thursday afternoon. The award, named after the former Mississippi Valley State wide receiver and NFL legend, recognizes the top freshman in the Football Championship Subdivision.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – While it was a tough night on Saturday for the Tennessee Tech football team in a 70-38 defeat at the hands of Southeast Missouri, the freshmen Golden Eagles made a night of it. Freshman David Gist, a local product out of Cookeville High, ran for two touchdowns and 108 yards on five carries, averaging 21.6 yards per carry. It was the first individual 100-rushing-yard game for the Golden Eagles since Andrew Goldsmith ran for 101 yards against Tennessee State last season.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Nearing the halfway point of the 2018 season and the Tennessee Tech football team has seen a consistent stream of improvement from week to week. Now the Golden Eagles just have to find ways to convert that into wins. Tech (0-5, 0-2 Ohio Valley Conference) will try to find its way into the victory column this week as the Golden Eagles play host to Southeast Missouri (2-2, 0-1 OVC) on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. from Tucker Stadium.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Bailey Fisher was off to a quick start on Saturday against Eastern Illinois, leading the Tennessee Tech football team to a touchdown on its opening drive at Tucker Stadium. But by the time the game was over, Fisher found himself in the record book, putting together one of the top passing performances in program history. Fisher was selected Tuesday as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Offensive Player of the Week.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Several players had career nights as Tennessee Tech tried to make a tremendous comeback in the fourth quarter, but Eastern Illinois was able to capitalize on costly errors and its own passing game to take a 52-38 victory Saturday night at Tucker Stadium. Tech drops to 0-5 on the season, but the prognosis is definitely bright for the future. “We had a lot of great individual efforts tonight,” Tech head coach Dewayne Alexander said. “I still sit here and never question the effort of our young men. They kept playing to the very end. We go for an onside kick trying to win the football game. There were some great performances and these men right here played outstanding.”
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – It’s easy to look at wins and losses to measure a team, but there’s a lot more to consider than just a tally in a column. Even though the Tennessee Tech football team took a 48-20 defeat at No. 9 Jacksonville State on Saturday night, there is no denying that the team has improved and continues to get better.
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – With Ohio Valley Conference action starting this week, the Tennessee Tech football team sets its sights on opening up the slate with a win, but it will be a challenging one as the Golden Eagles travel to a ranked Jacksonville State team on Saturday. “We’re hanging in there,” head coach Dewayne Alexander said Tuesday on the Ohio Valley Conference weekly teleconference. “We’ve played a very tough non-conference schedule. Chattanooga is 3-0 right now (following a win last week at UT Martin), Kennesaw State is ranked sixth and playing well right now. Utah State is a (Football Bowl Subdivision team) and is a really good football team, well coached and was excellent in all three phases.
LOGAN, Utah – Nick Madonia nailed a career-high four field goals and narrowly missed a fifth Thursday night as the Tennessee Tech football team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule at Utah State, falling 73-12 to the Aggies. Against the Football Bowl Subdivision team, the Golden Eagles saw some flashes with a couple of crucial defensive stops, then got a couple of big offensive plays. However, Tech (0-3) just could not find pay dirt when it came to the end zone.
LOGAN, Utah – When Tennessee Tech loads up the planes on Wednesday and heads across the country to take on Utah State on Thursday night, the goal still remains the same – try to come back with a win. Tech takes on the Aggies at 7 p.m. CT time from Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium. The game will be streamed live on Facebook via Stadium (www.facebook.com/StadiumCollegeFootball) with Ari Wolf, Darius Walker, Kristen Balboni and Paige Zamora providing the call and sideline coverage. Roger Ealey and Dylan Vazzano will broadcast the game live on the Golden Eagle Sports Network on 98.5 KISS FM.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech football team came out on fire Thursday night as it hosted No. 7 Kennesaw State, but the Owls put on a showcase of their triple-option offense, rolling to a 49-10 win over the Golden Eagles. It wasn’t all negatives for Tech (0-2) though. Freshman Bailey Fisher threw the first touchdown of his career, sending a five-yard strike to a wide-open Alex Carling. Fisher ended the game with 179 passing yards on 19-of-30 passing, while also rushing eight times for 38 yards.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Triple-option. It's one of the most dreaded phrases ever uttered in college football. And when No. 7-ranked Kennesaw State comes into Tucker Stadium on Thursday to take on the Tennessee Tech football team, the Golden Eagles will have to dig deep to face that threat. "Kennesaw State is an outstanding opponent," said Tech head coach Dewayne Alexander. "They played Georgia State this last week and lost a close game in the last seconds."
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Despite the 34-10 score as the Tennessee Tech-Chattanooga game stretched from Thursday night into Friday morning as the game had a 2:45 minute lightning delay, there were still positives for the Golden Eagles to build on. Tech (0-1) returns to action on Thursday night as it hosts Kennesaw State (0-1) in a nationally televised game on ESPNU.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Camp is over and class is in session. Now the Tennessee Tech football team is ready to take the field and finally hit someone other than themselves for a change. The Golden Eagles will get that chance Thursday night as they open the 2018 campaign and the Dewayne Alexander era in earnest at Chattanooga. Kickoff Thursday night is scheduled for 7:04 p.m. Eastern time.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As the Tennessee Tech football team finished the first full week of fall camp, the Golden Eagles closed out Saturday with their first scrimmage. It was nowhere near perfect – not that was expected this early into camp – but it did give the Golden Eagles an idea where to go next as they continue their preparations for the 2018 campaign. “We’re making a lot of progress,” said Tech head coach Dewayne Alexander. “We did a lot of good things, but we still have a lot to do. We threw a lot of situations at them over the last few practices – certain areas of the field, two-minute drills, backed up, red zone, 3rd and long, 3rd and short. There’s a lot of stuff we’re still installing, and the nature of it – you’re throwing a lot of stuff in, after day two or three it starts running together.
