2021 (Sophomore*): Gillespie played in 46 of Tech’s 47 games, making 46 starts at first base for the Golden Eagles… hit .302 with a .349 on-base percentage and .616 slugging percentage… racked up 48 hits, 38 runs, nine doubles, a triple, 13 home runs, 37 RBI, and a team-high 37 walks… finished 6-for-7 on stolen base attempts… made just four errors on the year, compiling a .990 fielding percentage… made his Golden Eagle debut with a pair of hits and an RBI against Southern Illinois (Feb. 20)… smashed his first two home runs, including a grand slam, to drive in a season-high five runs at Austin Peay (Mar. 13)… became just the second known player in program history to hit a long ball from each side of the plate in the same game against Belmont (Mar. 23) and first since Chris Brown did so at Austin Peay on Mar. 24, 2017… belted two more dingers in three at-bats against Morehead State (May 7)… set the program’s single-season record with his fourth multi-home run effort in the season finale against SIUE (May 21), tying his season-high with five RBI… recorded a season-best three hits at in the series opener at Eastern Kentucky (Apr. 30) and again in the series finale against the Colonels (May 1)… scored a season-high three runs five times… drew a season-best three walks at North Alabama (Mar. 16)… posted multiple hits in 16 games and drove in multiple runs 10 times… ended the season on a 17-game reached base streak.
