Bio
Chris Hedman was a two-time OVC Player of the Year and won all-OVC honors in two of his three years on the Golden Eagles tennis team. He is one of just four players in school history to earn Player of the Year and joins Hall of Famer Juan Escudero as the only repeat winner of the honor. He helped the Golden Eagles post a combined 54-18 won-loss record during his three seasons, and led the team to first, second, and third place finishes in the Ohio Valley Conference.
He came to Tech in 1988 with three seasons of eligibility and made the most of those seasons. Hedman was named OVC Player of the Year as a freshman in the 1988-89 season after winning the league title at number one singles and number one doubles, guiding the Golden Eagles to second place. He won 13 of his 14 matches that year, including two victories against ranked opponents, and avenged his only loss during that stretch with a three-set victory in the Championship of the OVC tourney against the same opponent. Hedman finished the season 19-8 in singles matches and 16-6 in doubles for a combined 34-13 individual record.
The following year, Hedman repeated as the conference Player of the Year and helped Tech win its first OVC championship in 21 years. That year Hedman posted a 20-6 singles record and was 14-7 in doubles action for a 34-13 mark. In his final season, Hedman suffered a broken wrist in January that hindered his performance, but he still compiled a 12-8 singles record and was 10-4 in doubles play for a 22-12 record.
For his three-year totals, Hedman owns a 51-22 career mark in singles play, and a 40-17 log in doubles.
