Bio
A three-time OVC Player of the Week during the 2010-11 season, Tacarra Hayes was named the co-Defensive Player of the Year in the league as well as a First-Team All-OVC selection after lifting Tennessee Tech to the regular-season championship. Named the team’s Most Valuable Player each of the past two seasons, Tacarra led the Golden Eagles in scoring (16.9 ppg), rebounds (7.5 rpg), assists (145) and steals (53) this year while ranking among conference leaders in five different categories. Hayes ranked fourth in the OVC in scoring, sixth in rebounds, second in assists and fifth in steals. She was also fifth in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio and eighth in minutes played. During her junior season, she led the team with seven double-doubles and posted double figures in scoring in 27 of 31 games including a high-game of 33 against UT Martin. A junior from Lebanon, Ky., Hayes joined the elite 1,000-point club during the year, finishing the season with 1,208 total points to place her 18th in school history. Hayes was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) all-region team and also earned a spot on the OVC all-tournament team.
