Golden Eagles and Bruins meet up for second time this season

By Jocelyn VerVelde, Sports Information Coordinator

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Just 11 days ago the Tennessee Tech volleyball team hosted the Belmont Bruins in what ended up being a hot-hitting outing for the guests.

Belmont and Tech both opened up set one on fire. The Golden Eagles hit an impressive .303 and put down 15 kills but even that was not enough to counter how hot the Bruins were. Hitting .516 and putting down 17 kills was just the signal of the fire the Bruins brought during the first match and just wore down the Golden Eagles. Belmont finished the match hitting a blistering .438 and committing just six hitting errors total.

This time around, the Bruins host the Golden Eagles Friday in a 6 p.m. CDT Ohio Valley Conference match.

The Golden Eagles are looking to find a way to win the match in Nashville. Junior Ellen Conti put down six kills on .312 hitting percentage Tuesday night in a midweek match with Tennessee State. Conti and her fellow hitters will need to increase their efficiency on Friday to counter the extremely efficient Bruins, who leads the conference in hitting percentage (.247) and hold second place in assists at 13.18 assists per set.

The match will be available on the OVC Digital Network; a live stats link will also be available.
