COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech volleyball team
(2-11) begins its 2010 conference home schedule this weekend as it
takes on Austin Peay and Tennessee State. The Lady Govs and the
Tigers have a combined 14-8 record, with a 3-1 OVC record.
"The team is definitely excited to be back at home," head coach
John Blair said. "Being on the road for the first four weeks of the
season can get tedious, so this will be a great opportunity for us
to catch our breath and relax a little."
The Golden Eagles begin their home conference schedule against
Austin Peay Friday, at 7 p.m. Tech is 48-21 all-time against APSU,
including a 3-3 record in their last six matches. The Lady Govs are
11-1 on the season and are 2-0 in OVC play, with wins over Murray
State and UT Martin.
"Austin Peay looks strong and we will have our work cut out
for us," Blair said. "We will need to be more consistent to be
successful."
Tennessee Tech finishes the weekend on Saturday squaring off
with the Tennessee State Tigers, at 2 p.m. The Golden Eagles are
33-6 all-time against the Tigers, and have won their last four
meetings. TSU currently sits with a 3-7 record, with a 1-1
conference record, including a win against UT Martin and a loss to
Murray State.
"Tennessee State looks to be resurgent this season splitting
its first two OVC matches," Blair said. "We can't sleep on them and
will have to be at our best when we face them."
