COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -. Tennessee Tech volleyball coach John Blair
has announced the addition of a new player to the Golden Eagle
roster, as graduate student Alysson Sanders has joined the team in
time to compete during the 2008 season.
Sanders played three seasons at Liberty University in Lynchburg,
Va., before graduating. She has one season of eligibility
remaining.
"We're fortunate to be getting a player of Alysson's caliber and
experience," Blair said. "She will immediately strengthen our team
and provide even stronger depth."
Sanders is currently a graduate student at Tech after receiving
her B.S. in Exercise Science at Liberty. She played three years on
the Liberty volleyball team under coach Shane Pinder.
As a senior for the Flames, she helped Liberty post a 27-9 record
in 2007. She played in 34 of the team's 36 matches and averaged
2.02 kills and 1.26 digs per game while playing in the front row.
She had 22 total blocks and 16 service aces while posting a .193
hitting percentage.
While at Tech she will also serve as a graduate assistant in the
strength and conditioning office under head coach Chip Pugh.
Sanders is working toward her M.S. in Kinesiology.
The Golden Eagles begin their season this weekend when they play
Marshall Friday night for their first of three matches at the
Cincinnati Bearcat Invitational.
