COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- All-OVC honorees Leigh Heffner and Kerri Reid have been named two of the Top 20 Players to Watch in the OVC after the contributions to the Tennessee Tech women’s soccer team this season.
Both members of the sophomore class, Heffner and Reid were both voted second team all-OVC by coaches and sports information directors from around the conference at the conclusion of the 2010 season.
Heffner was also recognized as one of the Ohio Valley Conference’s Defensive Players of the Week in October for her performances in the backfield against SEMO and Eastern Illinois. A nursing major out of Arvada, Colo., Heffner has maintained a 3.9 GPA for the duration of her time at Tech.
Reid was one of three Golden Eagles to be start all 17 games this season. She contributed two goals and three assists for 11 points on the year at her midfield position. Reid hails from Peachtree City, Ga., and is also majoring in nursing.
“I always think it’s great for the TTU soccer program and our University when our student-athletes get recognized for their contributions,” first year coach Daniel Brizard said. “Leigh and Kerri are both important parts of the future success of the TTU Soccer program. They have both been selected by the coaches and SID’s as all-conference players, and have now deservingly been recognized as player to watch in the OVC over the next few years.”
