MOREHEAD, Ky. - The Tennessee Tech soccer team took the road for
the first time in Ohio Valley Conference play, and fell to Morehead
State 4-0 Sunday.
Freshman Lauren Schaedig made her second straight start in goal for
the Golden Eagles (2-10-1, 1-1-1), and made six saves, but it was
Morehead State (5-6-1, 2-0-1) freshman Jillian Birchmeier who stole
the show. Birchmeier scored all four Morehead State goals, three
coming in the second half.
Tech trailed 1-0 at halftime, but Birchmeier netted three second
half goals, sealing the 4-0 victory. The loss was Tech's first in
OVC play. It was Morehead State goalkeeper Samantha Yocke who
posted the shutout.
The Golden Eagles play at Austin Peay on Oct. 10 before returning
to Cookeville to host Eastern Illinois on Oct. 17. Admission to
games at Tech Soccer Field is free.
