COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team hits the road again as they head to Nashville to take on the Tennessee State Tigers in a 6 p.m. CT contest on Thursday night.
Tech (6-11, 3-1) will match-up with the Tigers for the 59th time in the series history, with the Golden Eagles holding a 48-10 lead. Last season, TTU claimed both contests and the Golden Eagles have won seven straight over the Lady Tigers.
TSU (5-11, 2-1) picked up a road win last week as it defeated Southeast Missouri (75-67). Junior Chelsea Hudson scored 19 points in the win. She went 6-for-10 from the field, including hitting a pair of three-pointers. She also had seven rebounds and two steals against the Redhawks. TSU is averaging 66.0 points per outing while shooting 35.2 percent from the field. Hudson leads the team in scoring with 16.9 points per game while Rachel Allen (11.9 ppg) and I'mani Davis (7.1 ppg) round out the top scorers for TSU.
The Golden Eagles picked up a pair of home wins last week, defeating SIUE (72-66) and Eastern Illinois (64-54). Junior Candace Parson recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in her career. She had 12 points and 10 rebounds versus SIUE and followed that up with 14 points and 10 boards against Eastern Illinois. Freshman Hannah Goolsby scored in double-figures in both games. She scored 10 points in the win over SIUE. Goolsby recorded 18 points, including four three-pointers versus Eastern Illinois. Goolsby's performances led to her being honored as the adidas ® OVC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.
