COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As most people know the middle of October the seasons begin to change both outside and on the college campus. Just as the leaves begin to change colors so do the college campuses as they start to see the overlap of the fall sports with the basketball season.
Tech women’s basketball team back in practice for 2010-11 season
With one week of practice in the books, the Tennessee Tech women’s squad is already well into its groove and second-year head coach Sytia Messer is pretty satisfied with the state of the team.
"We are excited about being able to start practice early," Messer said. "We've got a couple of injuries that we're nursing. But I'm excited about their energy and their effort."
Fans can expect to see some familiar faces from last season, including junior guard Tacarra Hayes. Last season Hayes earned many accolades for her efforts including being named first team all-OVC and TTU Female Athlete of the Year.
"It's hard to believe it's that time of year again," Hayes said. “Everybody's starting to settle in and we're all excited about this season. We’re expecting us to do some big things."
The Golden Eagles kick off their 2010-11 campaign on Thursday Nov. 4, as they host an exhibition doubleheader against Bryan College with the women’s tip at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s tip at 7:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles begin regular season play Nov. 15, when they host the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M.
