COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team will host a midweek contest on Wednesday as the Golden Eagles entertain Lipscomb in a single game, starting at 5 p.m.
Admission to the Tech Softball Field is free to the public.
Lipscomb comes into the contest with a 28-11 record, including a 7-2 record on the road. Sarah Higgins leads the team in batting average as she is hitting .344, while driving in 21 runs. The Bisons' top producer, Abby Fenichel, has driven in 29 runs and hit a team-high seven home runs.
In the circle, Mandy Jordan has a 15-4 record in 17 starts among 20 appearances with 13 complete games and four shutouts. She has walked 30 batters and struck out 127 and opponents are hitting .182 against her.
Chloe Yeager (6-1, 2.08), Jordan Fortel (3-3, 1.84) and Megan Gray (4-3, 3.41) are also possible choices for starting possibilities.
Lipscomb has won six of its last seven games, including taking two of three from North Florida in Atlantic Sun play.
Tech (14-24) brings an 8-2 record at home into Wednesday's contest and has won five of its last six contests, including a doubleheader sweep against Murray State on Friday.
Following her performance against the Racers with three home runs in four at-bats, Raegan Sparks, the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, saw her average improve to .305 with 25 RBI and a team-high nine home runs.
In the circle, Taylor Waldrop saw her ERA drop to 3.49 on the season, improving her record to 9-7 following last weekend's games. She has walked 41 and struck out 69, while opponents are hitting .281 against her.
Also on Tuesday, the team announced that next week's game against Chattanooga has been cancelled with no plans to reschedule.
