COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Another day, another honor for Tennessee Tech senior pitcher Taylor Waldrop. After being named the Ohio Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the Canon, Ga., native earned the same honor from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association on Tuesday.
Waldrop pitched back-to-back shutouts in her first career OVC starts, the first shutouts in her career. She worked five scoreless innings against Tennessee State in a run-ruled, 8-0 victory as she allowed four hits, no walks and three strikeouts.
On Sunday against Belmont, Waldrop went all seven innings, allowing five hits with two walks and five strikeouts in a 3-0 win. The senior retired 13 straight batters and only three reached scoring position.
Waldrop is 7-7 this season in 18 appearances.
Tech returns to action on Saturday as it hosts Murray State in a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.
