COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech softball head coach Bonnie Bynum announced that Saturday and Sunday's Ohio Valley Conference opening weekend at Morehead State has been postponed until April 24, and the Golden Eagles will add a doubleheader at Lipscomb to their schedule next Wednesday (March 20).
The Tech softball team was scheduled to open OVC play Saturday at Morehead State. Due to the high possibility of inclement weather, the two teams have postponed the series until April 24. The teams will only make-up two of the three scheduled games in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. CDT.
Weather has displaced the Golden Eagles five times this season and Bynum has been hard at work adding two games to Tech's schedule. The Purple and Gold will travel back to Draper Diamond in Nashville for a doubleheader against Lipscomb on March 20, with the first game at 4 p.m.
The extra games at Lipscomb will now help to prepare the Golden Eagles for their home and conference opener against Murray State on Saturday, March 23. The squad finally returns to the Tech Softball field after six weeks on the road. The Golden Eagles face Murray State Saturday and Austin Peay Sunday. Both teams will play doubleheaders.
