MARTIN, Tenn. -- For her efforts in leading the Tennessee Tech softball team to its 17th Ohio Valley Conference Tournament appearance, senior pitcher Holly Thomas has been named first team All-OVC.
Thomas has struck out 146 batters this season and will likely start her 30th game of the year Thursday at the OVC Tournament. Her opponents batting average of .205 is the best in the conference while her ERA of 2.15 is second only to Eastern Illinois' Stephanie Maday, who was also named first team All-OVC.
She led the Golden Eagles in every pitching category, hurling three shutouts and 20 complete games in 189 innings in the circle.
The senior from Ooltewah, Tenn. ranks among the best in Tech history with 62 career victories and 538 strikeouts in more than 700 innings of work.
This marks the third postseason accolade for Thomas, as she was named to the all-newcomer team in her freshman campaign and second team All-OVC her sophomore year.
