In 2010 (Junior): Callie was very dependable for the Golden Eagles in 2010 as she started 57 games which was tied for most starts by any player...was the primary cleanup hitter and her numbers proved their worth...she led the team in RBIs with 43 and was second in home runs with 9...ranked second on the squad in hits with 50...had 14 multi-hit games, 13 multi-RBI games, and ended the season on a 4-game hitting streak...went a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run against Miami (Ohio) (2/26)...was recognized for her performance on the 2010 OVC All-Tournament team...hit the only walk-off home run for the Golden Eagles against Kennesaw State (4/7)...selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week...earned the distinction of being Tech's Most Improved Player.
In 2009 (Sophomore): Callie started 56 games at catcher for the Golden Eagles in her sophomore year...ended the season second on the team with six home runs and 24 RBIs...had the big game against Southeast Missouri (3/28), hitting a grand slam and a double to drive in six of her 24 RBIs on the season...went 2-for-3 with a home run in Tech’s final game of the season against UT Martin (5/9)...had eight multi-hit games, including a 2-for-2 game against Kennesaw State (2/14) when she drove in two RBIs and scored two runs...named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
Before Tech: Played her freshman season at Heartland Junior College in Normal, Ill., where she was named second team all-conference and made the all-tournament team at nationals.
High School: Callie lettered in three sports: softball, basketball and volleyball...in softball, Callie was the starting catcher for three years under coach Carrie Swanson...her senior year, she helped carry her team to a record of 29-4, the best in the program’s history...in her junior season, she batted .487 with 18 doubles and two home runs.
Personal: Callie Brooke Schmidt is the daughter of Russ and Christie Schmidt of Spring Valley, Ill...birthday is May 1, 1989...majoring in exercise science.
