Seven games in six days scheduled for the Golden Eagles

Game Notes

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - While most students at Tennessee Tech are taking their spring break, the Golden Eagle softball team will be as busy as ever this week. Tech has seven games in six days scheduled, including the team's home opener on Tuesday and fourth tournament of the season this weekend.

The action is set to begin at the Tech Softball Field on Tuesday when Lipscomb (16-1) will make the trip from Nashville for a doubleheader. The first game of the twinbill is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

Tech will remain at home on Thursday to play Liberty. Game time for that contest is scheduled for 4 p.m. Following the contest, both teams will head to Knoxville to take part in a tournament hosted by Tennessee. The two-day tournament pits the Golden Eagles against Liberty (7-3) in their first game before taking on the host Lady Vols later on Saturday. On Sunday, Tech will play Campbell (2-12-1) at 10 a.m. to start the day and finish the tournament with the team's third game against Liberty in four days.

Entering the week with an 8-7 record, Tech is fresh off a 3-2 finish at the Buzz Classic last weekend that saw TTU place seventh in the 22-team tournament. Junior Maddie Schmissrauter earned All-Tournament Team and OVC Pitcher of the Week honors for Tech after going 2-0 with a 0.58 earned run average and a pair of complete games over the weekend.

Junior Lacie Coquerille gave the Golden Eagles a boost last weekend as she made her 2010 season debut after missing TTU's first 10 games. A First Team All-OVC selection a season ago, Coquerille made an immediate impact in her first game of the season, finishing 3-for-3 with a homer, double, two RBIs and three runs scored. She finished the weekend with a hit in each of Tech's five games and was 7-for-15 at the plate.

The 5th inning has been crucial to the Golden Eagles so far this season. TTU sports a perfect 8-0 record when leading after five frames. However, Tech is also winless, 0-7, when tied or trailing after the 5th inning.

Tech will try to jump ahead early when the team kicks off its action for the week against Lipscomb on Tuesday. Live stats for all home games will be available through
